Buzz

I am Geoff Small but everybody has called me Buzz for the last 30 years (it’s a long story) and live in Darwen, Lancashire (which has amazing scenery), with my girlfriend Cindy Meller. At 50 years of age I have spent most of my working life in engineering as a fabricator/welder. 10 years ago I retrained to be a Plumbing and Gas Engineer.

I am mainly a self taught artist and have always been interested in art.  I started by painting murals on to the walls of friend’s houses and community centres years ago.  Then I decided that I need more of a challenge to and took my painting to a new level using oil paints on board then progressing to canvas. I also use acrylic and mixed media on my paintings to create a new and interesting 'feel' to them.

I enjoy painting portraits and animals because I find this is a real challenge to get a true likeness of the subject.  I also take pleasure from creating paintings with a difference from ideas that pop in to my head and develop as I develop the painting, as explains some of my more bizzare paintings.

All my paintings are done on a framed stretched canvas that is ready to hang, I mainly use oil paints but I have dabbled with acrylics and enjoy using a bold style of painting.  As well as doing portraits I am able to paint still life, animals and dreams and can turn my hand to anything, commissions are always welcome. If you wish to contact me to discuss anything in my Gallery then please do not hesitate to email or call, I will always be happy to help.

Cindy

I am Cindy Meller, 40 years old, and live in Darwen, Lancashire, with my boyfriend Buzz Small who is also an artist on this website.  I currently enjoy oil painting in my spare time as I have a full time and a part time job.

After leaving school I continued to sketch as a hobby, then (many years ago!) I started to paint murals of cartoons on to the walls of friends houses and in local community centres. I then decided to try oil painting, I am mainly self taught and continue to learn as I go along.

I have become very passionate about painting, so much so that I think it is affecting my sleep, and am now inspired to paint as much as possible. I love the difference in individual colours that you will see expressed in my paintings and believe that they give a striking result.  My main focus is to paint portraits and figures, using local models and friends who 'just liked taking their clothes off!' to create a certain pose that I feel would produce a stunning presence.

I enjoy working with oil paints, which are done on a framed stretched canvas that are ready to hang. Available for commissions, I am able to tailor your requirements regarding colour and size of canvas and am open to negotiations. I believe my paintings are reasonably priced, reflecting the time and materials used.

My speciality is portraits and people, however, I am always open to suggestions. If you wish to contact me to discuss anything in my Gallery then please do not hesitate to email or call, I will always be happy to help.

General

We realise it is difficult to see what a painting actually looks like from a small image on this site.  Due to the lack of our photography skills, colours are not always an exact representation of the true colour.  You can always view the painting at an exhibition, or contact us to come to some arrangement.

If you decide to purchase a painting, but on receipt of your chosen work you are not happy with it, we will refund the purchase price, less postage.  Please let us know within 14 days and return it to me, in the same condition, within 30 days.
